What is the "lock card setting"?

The "lock card" setting will allow you to block any payments from your debit or credit card through your mobile app.

Will the lock card setting block work when I am on a flight?

The lock card setting won’t necessarily work if you are on a plane because your purchase may go through as an offline transaction. This will work in the same way as card lock. Some transactions are approved without checking with the bank and where this happens we can’t stop the transaction.

What will happen to my subscriptions/regular payments when a lock card setting is in place?

Any subscriptions / regular payments which would usually be paid via a channel you have chosen to restrict will be declined and you will receive a notification. For example if you restrict the "Online, Telephone and Mail Order" channel then a payment for a Netflix subscription would be declined.

Will I receive a notification if my payment is declined due to a lock card setting?

Yes, you should receive a Push or SMS notification if your payment is declined due to a lock card setting being in place.

Can I use cash points for services other than cash withdrawal when a cash point lock card setting is in place?

Yes, the only thing a cash point lock card setting should prevent is cash withdrawal. Other services such as balance enquiry and PIN services will still work.

Does the lock card setting functionality cover Apple Pay and Google Pay in app/point of sales purchases?

Yes. If you restrict the "Online, Telephone and Mail Order" channel this will also stop any in app or in browser purchases you attempt using Apple Pay or Google Pay. If you restrict the "Contactless / Chip and PIN" channel this will also decline any purchases you attempt using Apple Pay or Google Pay with a point of sale terminal.
